【July 11, 2015 (Sat) 14:00〜15:30】Why not Join Shimimochi Rice Cake Festival from Tanagura? This is All for Those Who Love Soft and Sticky Food!

Shimimochi at Kura-cafe

This post is just a promotion of my event.

This time, I'm going to hold an event using Shimimochi, a local rice cake made in Tanagura Town, Fukushima Prefecture. This is an even with my fellow partner Kura-cafe.

The name of the festival is...

"Why not Join Shimimochi Rice Cake Festival from Tanagura? This is All for Those Who Love Soft and Sticky Food!"

...well, this is all made from my favorites, haha.

Shimimochi Rice Cake

I guess most of you do not know Shimimochi Rice Cake so I will give you a brief introduction by some lines. Shimimochi Rice Cake...

・Is a rice cake dried in the chilly air in winter.

・Can be preserved for long as emergency provisions.

・Has lots of dietary fiber from leaves of Synurus pungent in it.

・Can be tried with various tastes.

・Is soft and sticky. This is the most important. *laugh*

When I eat Shimimochi Rice Cake, I feel like eating dishes from scratch by my grandmother. Ah, well, I did not eat it when small though, haha.

Outside of Kura-cafe

The partner of this event is Kura-cafe, an antenna shop located in the shopping town of Les Halles Tsukuno at my hometown Tsurumi. This shop sells specialty products from various towns from all over Japan - mainly from Tanagura and Nishiaizu Town of Fukushima Prefecture.

Inside of Kura-cafe

The wall inside is filled with lots of products from left to right. Almost all of them are not available around here so only the window shopping is interesting enough to enjoy you during your visit. You can buy Japanese sake, of course!

Cafe Space of Kura-cafe

As this shop is also a community cafe, you can drink coffee here. Plus, this shop lets you eat food you bought at the other shops of this shopping street. It must be convenient because there are few places where you can eat food freely.

The revitalization of a shopping street can be started from making customers stay for longer time. Such a small action like this might be a solution for the whole shopping street to survive.

Looking from Inside of Kura-cafe

The view from the cafe space is like this. Wow, what a cool view! They offer this space for holding an event so please take this to your options list if you think of holding a small event around Tsurumi Town.

My Photo Frame at Kura-cafe

By the way, they are kind enough to exhibit my photo on the wall on the right side, which I took at Tanagura Town this spring. This is the Weeping Sakura tree of Hanazono, a symbol of Sakura trees in Tanagura Town. (Check out my post to see more images of this Sakura tree.)

Well, the event itself is scheduled on July 11, 2015 (Sat) 14:00〜15:30 at Kura-cafe. You can enjoy various tastes like perilla (egoma in Japanese), roasted soybean flour (kinako in Japanese), and mixture of sugar and soy sauce at one time. The number of participants is limited so please let us know as soon as possible if you want to join it. You can show your attendance through Facebook, or please call Kura-cafe directly.

We are looking forward to seeing you soon!
