I am in Enoshima Island now!
I've been to this island quite a few times, but at any of the occasions, I was here in the daytime. One of Three Major Winter Illuminations in Kanto, Jewelries of Shonan, invited me here tonight.
Enoshima Island is a small island connected by land with Japan's main land. One-hour-train from Tokyo is all you need to come to the island with great illuminations.
Many areas of this island is decorated with special illuminations. The biggest difference between the illuminations of Enoshima Island and the illuminations in Tokyo is the brightness of the surroundings. Cities of Tokyo have lights from streetlamps, lights from houses and shops, and even lights from skyscrappers. But in Enoshima Island, there are few lights, if any. It is only these great illuminations which are shining in this dark island.
I entered Enoshima Samuel Cocking Garden. The garden is literally full of amazing lights. This tunnel is like a long tunnel of Wisteria dominating the eyesight of visitors to the garden.
The tunnel of Wisteria takes you to this Jewelries of Shonan, the illuminations based on Enoshima Sea Candle. Once you look up to this observation tower, the curtain of lights will astonish you.
I walked back and took some distance from the tower. To tell the truth, I didn't have enough time to go around and take photos of various illuminations of this island tonight. The illuminations of Enoshima Island last through all the days of January. I will definitely come here again to capture more of beautiful landscapes.
